Issue

I helped to create the UI of the web app to demo their product.

Solution

Eximlabs is a startup that helps people do taxes with importing and exporting goods. They want to create an excellent experience for their clients. They did not have any starting foundation but wanted to create a UI that was clean and easy to follow.

How might we create a positive experience dealing with taxes for the users of Eximlabs?

We were given an idea of what Eximlabs wanted through a few sketches provided. We began by looking at the current competitors. We wanted to incorporate an easy to follow flow and a drop down list that included a lot of information. Seeking to condense the information down, we reviewed over Eximlabs current competitor, Flexport. Their UI was clean and simple yet was able to condense a lot of information. We decided to start writing down screens that would be necessary to create on Notion and created an information architecture.

Knowing what screens to create, we began creating a low fidelity mockup of the screens.

Design System

Final Deliverable

For our Final UI, we offered different ways to view your clients whether it be listed or in a grid in folders. We added a color coded system for faster visuals on what needs to be done. Additionally, we thought users should be able to favorite their important documents for easier access.For the importing and exporting file page, we made the scanned document on the left and the information to the right to check for any errors.

Reflection

I had a great experience working on this project. It was interesting to learn a different field and to work on their UI.‍Working with Eximlabs was a pleasure and I learned a lot understanding users who would tax. If I were to continue with Eximlabs, I would want to do user testing to fully understand if this flow would be easy to use and follow.
